Alan Boyd started his professional career in 1984 as a graduate with Spicer and Pegler in the Southampton, UK office in the audit and business services division. He completed the three year ICAEW professional qualifications in the UK in 1987 and was then seconded for four months to the government internal audit department and for six months in 1988 to the Spicer & Oppenheim office in Cambridge, England. Alan transferred to the audit division of Duesburys, Australia in October 1988 on a two year overseas secondment but decided to make the transfer a permanent one in 2001. Alan undertook and completed the ICAA professional qualifications in Australia in 1995.
Alan moved into industry in March 1997 when he joined SECV privatised entity HRL Limited as CFO, and later also as Company Secretary, where he stayed until moving to Sausage Software at the height of the Dot.Com boom in 2000. Having experienced the rise and decline of that sector he moved into listed biotech entity Amrad Corporation in late 2002. Alan managed the spin out of Avexa Limited from Amrad followed by the sale of Amrad to CSL before joining Avexa in a full time capacity in March 2007. He left Avexa to join Ridley Corporation Ltd as CFO and Company Secretary in April 2009.
Alan was appointed a non-executive director and Chair of the Audit Committee of HRL Limited in 2007, and continues to serve on that Board in addition to his full time executive role at Ridley Corporation Limited.
