Ridley is committed to minimising any adverse environmental impacts while continuing to meet your expectations of quality and service.
We have a range of operations across Australia that, by their nature, have the potential to affect the environment, such as energy and water usage, or waste disposal.
We are proactive about managing these impacts and do so by setting and achieving targets that promote the efficient use of resources and reduction of pollution. We also submit reports to the National Pollutant Inventory and National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting authorities every year.
Ridley is constantly reviewing its operations to reduce energy use.
We regularly conduct energy audits across all our sites, and have found opportunities for improvement in boiler efficiency, pellet presses, and compressors. You can find out more about our initiatives in the public report.
We comply with the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007, and report energy usage as required. Complying with this legislation is critical to any carbon pollution reduction scheme, as it will develop baseline data and ultimately, the targets for emissions reduction.
Carbon pollution reduction scheme
Ridley has been actively involved in discussions about the implications of a carbon pollution reduction scheme on the agricultural sector.
We participated in the Australian Farm Institute Round Table on agriculture and emissions trading, and continue to play an active role in influencing the position the sector will take.
We are also studying the potential impacts of the carbon pollution reduction scheme on our business, identifying opportunities to reduce energy use. Through our innovative feed solutions, we are also helping our customers reduce their own carbon emissions.
Ridley is always looking for opportunities to reduce water usage.
We have implemented water management plans at key sites, identifying and implementing effective solutions to reduce water consumption.
At Ridley, we actively reduce waste and on a daily basis demonstrate real commitment to a recycling program,
improving efficiencies at our feed mills by diverting as much waste as possible into recycling streams.
We are also proud signatories of the Australian Packaging Covenant.
Australian Packaging Covenant
Ridley is committed to resource conservation, product stewardship, and the principles of shared responsibility for packaging as outlined in the Australian Packaging Covenant (APC) and the Sustainable Packaging Guidelines. We are proud signatories of the APC.
